Agent Categories

Agent Categories let you organize your AI agents into a hierarchical folder structure. Administrators define the categories, and users can then filter agents by category when browsing the agent list. Each organization manages its own set of categories independently.

note

Agent Categories is not enabled by default. A platform administrator must enable this feature for your organization before it becomes available. If you don't see the Agent Categories option in your settings, reach out to your platform administrator to have it turned on.

Managing Categories (Administrators)

Administrators manage categories from Organization Settings > Agent Categories. From this page you can:

  • Create folders — Top-level categories that act as groupings (e.g., "Sales", "Engineering", "HR").
  • Create sub-categories — Nest categories inside a folder for finer organization (e.g., "Engineering > Backend", "Engineering > Frontend").
  • Edit a category's name, description, or parent folder at any time.
  • Reorder categories within the same level using the up/down controls.
  • Activate or deactivate categories — Inactive categories are hidden from end users but remain available for administrators to manage.
  • Delete categories — A folder that still contains sub-categories cannot be deleted. Remove or move the sub-categories first.

Browsing Agents by Category

When you browse agents in your organization, two dropdown filters appear at the top of the agent list:

  1. Folder — Select a top-level category to narrow the list to agents in that group.
  2. Sub-category — If the selected folder has sub-categories, a second dropdown appears so you can refine your selection further.

Selecting a folder shows all agents tagged with any of its sub-categories. Selecting a specific sub-category narrows the results to just that category. The filter is reflected in the page URL, so you can share a filtered view with colleagues by copying the link.

Assigning Categories to an Agent

When editing an agent, you can assign it to one or more categories:

  1. Open the agent in the editor.
  2. Look for the Categories field.
  3. Select the categories you want to assign from the dropdown.
  4. Save the agent.

An agent can belong to multiple categories. Only categories from your organization are shown.

Limitations

  • Two-level hierarchy — The category structure supports folders and sub-categories (two levels). Deeper nesting is not available.
  • No bulk reordering — Categories are reordered one at a time using the up/down controls.
  • Deactivating a folder does not deactivate its children — If you deactivate a folder, its sub-categories remain active and may still appear when assigned to agents. Deactivate sub-categories individually if needed.
  • Organization must be assigned to a tenant — Categories require your organization to have a tenant configured. If you don't see the Agent Categories option, contact your platform administrator.
